Jay McGee first began his career at Butlins Bognor Regis at the age of 16 as a Red Coat after lying about his age! His “raw” talent was nurtured here for 3 years as a Red Coat by night and a lifeguard by day. While here Jay also became great friends with some of the 60’s groups playing at the resort and had the opportunity to go and perform with The Dreamers (minus Freddie!) in Israel. The bug had bitten and Jay now knew that this was exactly what he wanted to do.

In 1989 Jay started working for Warners at Sea View as the Resident Entertainer where he stayed for two seasons. This was where the comedy began to take form in Jay’s shows.

In 1991 Jay moved to another Warners centre on the Isle of Wight as the Assistant Entertainments Manager. Elvis made his first appearance here in Jay’s act!!

In 1992, Jay travelled to Haven’s Whitby Holiday Park, where he covered four nights of the entertainment programme as the budget was tight on such a small park. Buddy Holly, Conway Twitty and more impressions started to shine.

In 1993 Haven moved Jay down to Weymouth Bay Holiday park as the Entertainments Manager. The whole entertainment programme was on Jay’s shoulders as were the resident shows and choreography. Two very successful seasons were to follow at this park while he was there. Jay found his own show was shining above some of the professional acts he was booking so decided to try it himself and went out on the road!

In 1995 Jay did a lot of work at Waterside Holiday Park where he found he could try different sets, new songs and impressions.

Throughout this time during the winter months when the parks were mainly closed Jay kept in touch with his four dads (The Dreamers) and often went performing on tour with them.

At Christmas in 1997 Jay tried panto! He appeared as the Emperor in Aladdin at the main theatre in Halifax alongside stars of Eastenders and The Gladiators.

In February 1998 Jay took a big gamble and a huge step and took his show to the Spanish island of Mallorca. Here he worked all over the island for Tolo Pomar and Romantic Corporate and had a huge success with his show going from strength to strength. While here he even got the opportunity to work with Julian Clary on the UK TV show “Prickly Heat”.

After the pull from home becoming too much and missing his family Jay returned back to the UK and the NEW Jay McGee Show took the country by storm. Working under Jeff Sutton Management Jay became a wanted man! And in December 1999 Jay was approached by the famous 60’s band The Rockin Berries to become the new front comedy man and lead singer. Jay now had two totally different shows to entertain people with.

In 2002 The Rockin Berries performed as one of the main acts in the Royal Variety Command Show where he had the privilege to meet and perform for Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.

Since this time Jay has had the chance to perform with many top names and artists in the entertainment industry including Bobby Davro, Jethro, Ken Dodd, Roy Wood and Wizzard, Stephen Mullhern, Chicco and the X Factor Finalists, Jim Davidson, Joe Pasquale, Cannon & Ball, Shane Ritchie, Ray Lewis from the Drifters, Paul O’Grady, Simon Cowell and many more!!!

Jay would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who helped him along on his journey so far, family, friends, entertainers and fans alike.

Also a huge thank you to Jason Harrison for setting up and creating this site for me. Cheers mate!
